The PGLTF 2009 Season

June 11-27, 2009

Bare: A Pop Opera          by Jon Hartmere & Damon Intrabartolo

Philly Premiere!  It is the last semester of their senior year at St. Cecelia's.  Peter passionately loves Jason and Jason loves Peter in return, but can the often-times judgmental world they live in accept and embrace their love?  An emotionally gripping tale about high school students, gay and straight, trying desperately to find their way through the challenging maze that is life and love.  A HUGE HIT with gay and straight youth around the country!

And Baby Makes Seven  by Paula Vogel

Anna, Ruth and Peter await the arrival of their newborn child, but first they must rid the crowded apartment of their three imaginary children.  In an introduction to the play, David Savran writes "[BABY is] most original and important for its redefinition of family. What is one to make of a family in which the boundaries between illusion and reality, power and subjection, friendship and love, female and male, are so porous...and in which family members freely materialize and dematerialize. It is a celebration of narrative, of the power of the theatre to make fantasy real. It commemorates the childhood one never had, the friends wished for but never gained, the desires never acknowledged."

"And Baby Makes Seven is a hilariously inventive play. Playwright Vogel's writing is witty and precise." - Daily Californian

"What's remarkable about Baby is the sense of innocence and optimism that rises from potentially dark subject matter." - Philadelphia City Paper

Friends are Forever               by Tom W. Kelly

Philly Premiere!  James, Steve, and Mike are long-term friends, and their new partners, George, Bill, and Roger, are trying -- awkwardly sometimes -- to fit in.  Friends are Forever follows the couples as they explore friendship, love, fidelity, and infidelity as well as the occasionally awkward repercussions. Friendships are humorously tested when indiscretions and secrets are unexpectedly exposed and they discover that, sometimes, it's only one degree of separation.

"It's sweet, it's sexy, it's cozy, it's fun..." - San Francisco Bay Times

Steinberg / Osborn Award Nominee!

 Two PGLTF Cabarets!

Some of Philly's hottest OUTsingers bring their OUTstanding voices and best songs to -- not one, but TWO!! -- fabulous evenings that will be sure to raise your spirits.  Each unique cabaret will be staged for one night only!

In our community, it is often our friends who ultimately define our family.  Our friends are with us through thick and thin, providing encouragement, support, acceptance, and the occasional aggravation.  Join us on June 13 as we explore the meaning of life and love through friendship in our special cabaret, Friends are Forever: A Musical Celebration.

Can't get enough of the cast of Bare?  Neither can we -- come out and see the festival cast in a special cabaret performance on June 20.  This one-night-only event is not to be missed!

Staged Reading: Dunkler-Related Disorders     by James Magruder

And you though your family was dysfunctional!  Come meet the Dunklers: a family of twisted secrets who are all about to find out that yes -- it can get even worse.  The shocks are only surpassed by the laughs in this scintillating tale of a southern family coming apart at the seams.  One performance only!
